Activating a Parallels Server

When you connect to a Parallels server that is not activated, the following message appears: Your copy of Parallels Server is not activated. If the server is not activated, you can create new virtual machines and edit their configuration, but you cannot run these virtual machines and install guest operating systems in them.

Note: Parallels Management Console itself does not require activation.

To activate a Parallels server:

1. Click Activate Product when you see the message ' Your copy of Parallels Server is not activated.' or choose Activate Product from the Help menu. The Activate Product dialog appears.

   

2. Fill out the following fields in this dialog:
   • Name. Enter your name (optional).
   • Organization. Enter the name of your organization (optional).
   • Activation Key. Enter the key for your Parallels product.
3. Click OK .

If you do not have a valid key, you can choose one of the following options in the Activate Product dialog:

• obtain a trial activation key
• obtain a permanent activation key
