Set Media Files to Open in Windows 8 Apps
When you install Windows 8, Parallels Desktop sets most types of media files (photos, pictures, music, and video) to open in classic Windows desktop applications.
To set media files to open in Windows 8 apps by default, do the following:

Start Windows 8.

From the Start screen, right-click or Control-click anywhere on the screen and click
All Apps
.

Open
Control Panel
.

Choose
Programs
>
Default Programs
>
Associate a file type or protocol with a program
.

In the list of file extensions, select the file extension for which you want to change the default program, then select
Change program
and select the program you want to use with that type of file.
