About Parallels Management Console Parallels Management Console is a graphical user interface (GUI) tool for managing the following Parallels products: · Parallels Server Bare Metal · Parallels Server for Mac · Parallels Server for Mac Bare Metal Edition The client application with the graphical user interface is installed on a computer (called the Parallels server) running one of the supported Linux, Mac, or Windows operating systems. For the full list of supported operating systems, see System Requirements. Once the client application is up and running, it can connect to a physical server running one of the aforementioned products. The client application can control multiple physical servers simultaneously. After the connection to the required physical server has been established, you can start managing this server and its virtual machines using the intuitive and comfortable GUI. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. System Requirements Parallels Management Console can be installed on any computer that complies with the following system requirements. 2.1. Mac OS X Client Computers Hardware Requirements - Intel-powered Core™ Duo or Core Solo Mac® Mini, iMac®, MacBook™, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Pro, or Xserve. - 1 GB RAM is recommended. - 100 MB of hard disk space for installing Parallels Management Console. - CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive (optional). - Ethernet or WiFi network adapter. Software Requirements - Mac OS X v10.4.8 Tiger or later - Mac OS X v10.5.2 Leopard or later 2.2. Windows Client Computers Hardware Requirements - 700+ MHz Intel-compatible x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) processor. - 1 GB RAM is recommended. - 100 MB of hard disk space is required for installing Parallels Management Console. - CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive (optional). - Ethernet or WiFi network adapter. Note: Windows Vista does not support TCP/IP over IEEE 1394. Network Requirements To connect Parallels Management Console to the Parallels server, you need to establish a network connection between this server and the computer where Parallels Management Console is installed. The connection can be wireless or wired. Before connecting to the Parallels server running Parallels Server for Linux and Parallels Server for Windows, make sure that the following port is not blocked by the firewall: - TCP/UDP port 64000 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Installing Parallels Management Console Parallels Management Console is a cross-platform application that can be installed on most computers running Mac OS X, Windows, or Linux operating systems. 4.1. Installing Parallels Management Console on Mac OS X To install Parallels Management Console on Mac OS X: 1) Locate and open the Parallels Management console DMG package. 2) Select the Parallels Management Console icon and drag it to the /Applications folder on your Mac. You may use the alias to this folder, available in the DMG package. 4.2. Installing Parallels Management Console on Windows OS To install Parallels Management Console on Windows: 1) Locate the Parallels Server package and double-click the Parallels Management Console exe file, and double-click it to launch the installation wizard. 2) In the Welcome window, click Next. 3) In the License Agreement window, carefully read the Software End User License Agreement for Parallels Server. If you agree with the terms of the license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next. If you want to print the text of the license agreement for your records, click Print. Note: You must accept the Software License Agreement to proceed with the installation. 4) In the Destination Folder window, specify the folder where you want to install Parallels Management Console, and click Next. By default, Parallels Management Console is installed to the following location: C:\Program Files\Parallels\Parallels Management Console\ 5) In the Ready to Install the Program window, click Install to start installing Parallels Management Console. You can view the installation progress in the Setup Status window. 6) When the installation is complete, click Finish to exit the wizard. 4.3. Installing Parallels Management Console on Linux OS To install Parallels Management Console on Linux: 1) Locate the Parallels Server installation package and launch the parallels-management-console-3.0.XXXX.XXXXX.run file to run Parallels Management Console Installer. You can also open this file in a terminal. 2) Confirm your wish to install Parallels Management Console by clicking Run when prompted. Wait until the process of uncompressing Parallels Management Console is complete. 3) In the Welcome window, select Next. 4) In the License Agreement window, carefully read the Software License Agreement. If you agree with the stated terms and conditions, choose Accept. If you do not agree, choose Decline. Note: You must accept the Software License Agreement to proceed with the installation. 5) In the Installation Completed window, click Exit to quit the installer. By default, Parallels Management Console is installed to this directory: /usr/lib/parallels-management-console. To launch Parallels Management Console, execute the following command in a terminal: # pmc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Removing Parallels Management Console Parallels Management Console can be removed like any other application. 5.1. Removing from Mac OS X 1) Locate and open the /Applications folder. 2) Select the Parallels Management Console application, and drag its icon to Mac OS X Trash. 3) Empty Trash to completely remove Parallels Management Console from your computer. 5.2. Removing from Windows From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. Open Add or Remove Programs, select Parallels Management Console in the list, and click Remove. 5.3. Removing from Linux 1) Locate and open the following folder: /usr/lib/parallels-management-console. 2) Select the Parallels Management Console application and move it to Trash. 3) Empty Trash to completely remove Parallels Management Console. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.
